Professional development for mentors working across and within humanitarian, development and purpose-driven sectors.
Mentoring in complex global environments requires more than goodwill. It calls for skill, reflection, cultural awareness and the ability to navigate uncertainty with care and confidence.
Mentor Learning and Exchange is the Global Connect space for mentors to keep learning, reflect on their practice and connect with others doing similar work around the world.

An open community for Mentors
Whether you mentor within Global Connect or support leaders elsewhere in the humanitarian and development ecosystem, you are welcome to join us. All sessions are free and held online via Zoom.
What you’ll find:
- Live CPD sessions exploring real mentoring dilemmas and practice challenges, led by practitioners from across the sector
- Time to reflect on your own practice and deepen your insight and ethical awareness
- Peer exchange with mentors working across different regions and contexts
- Practical approaches to strengthen coaching-style mentoring conversations
- Session recordings, so you can catch up on anything you’ve missed
We run sessions regularly throughout the year to build continuity, shared learning and professional connection. The community is still growing, and we always welcome ideas and feedback on how to make the space work for you.

Mentor Development Pathway
We support mentors who volunteer with our Global Connect programmes to grow over time. The pathway builds on what you gain within each programme and adds more advanced support as your experience grows.
Support within every programme
Every Global Connect mentor is supported throughout their programme, including:
- A mentor briefing before the programme begins
- Support and Celebrate: two group supervision[LS1] sessions during the programme, where mentors come together to reflect on their mentoring relationships, explore challenges with peers, and celebrate progress
Stage 1: Getting started
Your first Global Connect programme
- Mentor briefing
- Two Support and Celebrate group supervision sessions
- Open access to Mentor Learning and Exchange CPD sessions
Stage 2: Deepening practice
From your second Global Connect programme, or from your first if you already hold a recognised coaching or mentoring qualification
- Experienced mentor briefing
- Experienced mentor supervision, which explores more advanced practice topics
- Open access to Mentor Learning and Exchange CPD sessions
Stage 3: Advancing practice
From your third Global Connect programme
There are two routes, depending on whether you already hold a coaching or mentoring accreditation.
If you hold an accreditation:
- You stay in the experienced mentor pool
- You get access to smaller group supervision
- Open access to Mentor Learning and Exchange CPD sessions
- Access to more opportunities as they are launched
If you don’t yet hold an accreditation:
- You’ll be offered a place on our EMCC-accredited Foundation Level Core Coaching and Mentoring Skills Programme (subject to availability)
- When you complete the programme, you get access to smaller group supervision
- Open access to Mentor Learning and Exchange CPD sessions
- Access to more opportunities as they are launched
